Stephen Kieswetter and I discuss our mutual obsession

Happy Monday y'all.

This week's show features a conversation with my friend and fellow film fanatic Stephen Kieswetter, whose DVD/Blu-ray collection probably outweighs mine. We spoke for over 90 minutes about some of the best films we've seen this year, some great theatrical experiences we've had in the past and we even delve into the world of podcasting and social media.

My second installment of Movies That Make Me Want To Make Movies is the Clint Eastwood classic that makes me feel lucky.

New episode! My guest: Andre Gagne

Happy Friday everyone! New episode features a chat with a friend of mine, fellow film fan Andre Gagne, a local photographer here in Ottawa, who works for Kevin Smith's Smodco podcasts providing news stories for Jason Mewes' Mewes News show. Andre and I discussed all that plus The Dark Knight Rises and other movie matters.

I also kick off a new segment called Movies That Make Me Want To Make Movies! where I showcase a particular film that has inspired me as a filmmaker. I start off with The Coen Brothers' ingenious debut BLOOD SIMPLE (1984) It's one of the my top five favourite films and it inspires me in many ways. Listen and enjoy! Also, please leave any comments (polite ones) and suggestions here or on my Twitter page: @andrewlapo

My guest this week is my former boss at the Mayfair Theatre where I work here in Ottawa. Mike Dubue is a multi-talented musician who is the lead singer of The Hilotrons, a great band whose music is heard in this podcast every week. Mike left the Mayfair to pursue his music full time. This includes composing scores for films. He has written scores for independent films such as Smash Cut and The Dead Sleep Easy, both directed by my friend Lee Gordon Demarbre. Mike also composed live scores for theatrical showings of classic silents films like Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Before the interview, you'll hear me talk about the tragic shootings in Aurora, Colorado and my feelings about the aftermath.
